Securely managing an explosion of data growth
VGL engaged with Torix to design, implement and support a solution that would overcome VGL’s data growth challenges
Since 1976, VGL have led the print industry by pioneering innovative technologies. They travel the world in search of the latest advances, investing in new machinery, materials and processes, while developing groundbreaking new products such as Surface View and Fabpixi. Still a family run business today, VGL employs over 100 staff and continues to base all of its operations from Reading, Berkshire.
VGL’s success is based on being at the forefront of technology within the printing industry. Their Technical Director, Rupe Dadd, oversees implementation and management of all aspects of technology within the business.
“We lead the way in Flat bed, Roll to Roll and Fabric printing to name a few. VGL have always looked to be at the forefront of printing technology, and this is key to our competitive advantage”.
“As we invest in printing technology, our IT requirements have become more complex. Our data storage requirements have gone up hugely, and we rely more than ever on it, so it is important that it is stored in a place that meets our security, disaster recovery and availability demands.”
“Just as importantly, we also had to bear in mind that our data demands would only continue to scale up as we grow further as a business”
“Torix have a proven track record of overcoming similar challenges to the one that we had. We have engaged with them many times before, and we knew that they have a highly skilled team that know how to translate technology into business outcome”
“Torix delivered a solution that included a combination of local data storage, high end point to point connectivity and offsite cloud storage. Torix also conducted in depth assessments and remedies where necessary to ensure that VGLs data was safe and secure.”
The mix of cloud, onsite and connectivity solutions allowed VGL to cost effectively put in place a solution that gave them the ability to scale and cut their data risks cost effectively.
“It is important for us to work with a partner that can see the bigger picture. Because IT is so complex and has so many dependencies we need someone that has skills and expertise in being able to unify our working environment, ensuring its security while having the ability to manage the infrastructure thereafter.”
